    INTRODUCTION - Fishing

Fishing is still considered one of the most relaxing pastimes people enjoy by themselves or with a group of friends, family, or strangers. To many, there is nothing more pleasurable being on the ocean, river, lake, stream, or creek bed with a fishing pole or net trying to catch a fish or two. Even though there are many types of fish and styles of fishing, it is still a relatively easy activity to learn and enjoy throughout one’s life.

There are many types of fishing. The most popular include:

Fresh water fishing (lakes, rivers, creeks, ect)
    Salt water fishing (ocean)
    Ice fishing
    Fly fishing
    Salmon fishing

While practiced fishermen have tried different types of fishing, it seems that most have a favorite. This may be due to the region they live in, the equipment needed, or the solitude that certain types of fishing can bring.

The types of equipment, boats, and other items people like to fish with will also vary depending on the type of fishing they want to participate in. In order to fish, all you really need is a simple fishing pole, line, hooks, bait, and a bucket to put fish into. But equipment can be expensive when fishing in the deeper parts of the ocean.

Throughout this book, you will find many tips and observations about fishing. You will learn:

    Fishing history
    Fishing basics
    Equipment
    Types of fishing
    Fishing boats
    Fishing trips
    Fishing with children

From fishing in solitary to entering a fishing competition, you will learn everything you need to know about preparing, fishing, and surviving your first fishing adventure.

Regardless of whether you have fished before or not, this book has something for everyone. Fishing should be a relaxing activity that can be shared with others or used as a time to think and reflect. Understanding the differences and similarities of the many types of fishing will help you choose the right kind of fishing adventure.
